Our little Cambell Grace has been sleeping in her BIG GIRL BED since Friday, September 24! This was a big step for our big girl... and a necessary one, since little brother will be needing the crib soon :).
It all happened so fast. Aunt Summer was with us for the weekend and helping with the bedtime routine for the toddler. Cambell mentioned she would be sleeping in her big girl bed. Mommy knows that translates to eventually sleeping in her big girl bed, as we often talk about to get her geared up for the big switch. But Aunt Summer saw a golden opportunity, pulled back the sheets, and off we plunged into the great adventure of sleeping in the big girl bed! I really did not feel ready at the time to take this jump at the time, but now I am so glad it is over and a SUCCESS! Cambell LOVED her crib and would ask for it by name since I started talking up the big girl bed. It is best that we made the switch when it was HER idea, because she would probably still be in her crib, otherwise.
To celebrate a successful first night, we rewarded our official big girl with a pink doughnut! I am happy to report that Cambell stays in her big girl bed from the time we put her down until we come in to get her. She even talks and sings to herself in the mornings upon waking up, patiently waiting for Mommy to come get her. This was my main concern in moving to the big girl bed. Selfishly, I did NOT want to give up that luxury. It is so nice to be able to be completely ready for the day before going in to get Cambell. ONE morning she came out of her room, but I calmly told her that she needs to wait for Mommy to come and get her when she wakes up, and she has obliged my request... and is SO proud of herself for obeying. I am so proud of my BIG GIRL (and thankful to my sister for ripping off the band-aid :))!
