Our First Ear Infection

Our sweet little Cambi Baby has her first ear infection! Poor baby! She has had fever, a nose that hasn't stopped running, and coughing during the night. Other than that, she has been her sweet, laid back self. We are giving her antibiotics for the first time and she LOVES it. She becomes giddy as I fill up the syringe and sad when it is finished. It cracks me up. I think we are almost finished with this battle. The coughing has subsided... hopefully the snot will be the next to go!

Sweet Cambell has loved sitting up in her crib lately. This morning I woke up to a strange sound on the monitor. I came to check on my girl and she was repeatedly hitting the lever to make her starfish do flips. Over and over and over and over. I love watching her entertain herself. It certainly is nice for Mommy!
Stay tuned for my response to being tagged and moments from last weekend when we stayed with our favorite little family!

This just in...

The strangest thing happened this morning... I had just laid Cambell down on the floor in the living room to play with some toys while talking to Graham on the phone. I stepped in to the kitchen to get something, and when I stepped back around the corner, my daughter was standing up at her Learn and Groove table! It was such an odd sensation to see her standing there, when seconds before she was on her tummy on the floor far from the table. Cambell has mastered pulling up on people, but this is the first time she has ever pulled up on an object all by herself. She stands holding on to things all the time, but this is the first time she got there all by her little self! I am so proud of our little puller-upper! I just can't believe I missed it!

Birthday Party Mania!

On Saturday, Cambell attended TWO birthday parties. She is quite the socialite. The first was a pajama party for Hudson and Avery Anne's 5th birthday. I have been with these kids on every birthday, except for their 1st. I love that Cambell was able to be a part of the party, even though she was unable to make a fruit loop necklace, play the jumping on the mattress game, eat pancakes, or decorate a pillowcase.  She carefully examined all of the activities and happily rotated through the adults' arms. I would say it was a successful morning.
I love these precious girls!

Our second party of the day was in Burleson, celebrating Maddie Madl. Maddie and Cambell are second cousins and became quite close over Thanksgiving.  Here are all of the second cousins on my Dad's side of the family, minus Garrett. We have Maddie (the birthday girl), Joshua, Samantha, and our little Cambi.
Elmo served as the theme of the party. Maddie was a very gracious birthday girl. Seeing extended family between holidays was an added blessing.
Cambell aided Mommy in the making of her visor. Pretty cute!
We enjoyed our party filled weekend and are now all caught up on naps!

It has been a while...

A lot of excitement has been stirring in the Cook household and our blog has been neglected. Cambell is 8 months old and as precious as can be. There are daily developments on the Cambell front these days. If you look carefully in the above picture, you may notice her two bottom teeth! When the picture was taken, the right tooth had just broken through. Now the teeth are almost even. It is almost impossible to get a picture of her teeth because she covers them with her tongue.

I cannot believe how the past 8 months have FLOWN by. Cambell is a self-proclaimed army crawler! She was unbelievably close to the traditional crawl, but her discovery of the army crawl/tummy scoot has given her a sense of complacency.  She can really maneuver around a room! We even purchased all of our baby proofing materials. She attempts to pull up, but only on people. Cambell has become quite the giggle box. She loves laughing when other people are laughing. We would like to think she has a sense of humor beyond her years, but it is more likely she just likes to hear and make the laughing sound. She is precious.

I will now travel back to the beginning of 2009. We celebrated at my Mimi's annual party with sweet family and friends. The party includes "Frankye Fries", which are fried potatoes that put french fries to shame. It was special to attend with a baby. She served as the entertainment for the day.
The next day, we went to the Austin area to visit several groups of friends. We started out in Kyle to see the Bowdens in their new house! It was great to catch up with these wonderful friends. We miss playing games with them!
Cambell thoroughly enjoyed her time with Judge. She got a handful of his nose multiple times. Thankfully, he did not react.

After a night with the Bowdens, we moved over to downtown Austin to witness the marriage of Neal and Christel Gilbreath. Graham lived with Neal during his time at Baylor. We spent Labor Day with these friends, and now two couples are pregnant!  Camille and Garrett Blundell are expecting Charis around the time Cambell will turn one. Matt and Kelley Homeyer are expecting their little bundle mid-July.
I cannot believe the number of people we know who are expecting! It is exciting. I look forward to these kiddos growing up together. In other news, my sweet friend Maryanne Liechty had her second daughter, Mary Kate, on my birthday! Graham made my birthday very special. My parents, sister, and family friend, Gina Castleberry, came to celebrate with us. My birthday was Sunday, but the celebration has lasted from last Friday until tonight! Graham's parents are babysitting for us while we go to dinner and a movie! I can't even remember the last time I got to see a movie in a theater! I will, as always, miss Cambell and we will probably spend most of dinner talking about our daughter!

Christmas Update... A Little Late

I am so sorry that we have been so behind in our blogging. So much has happened that I am just going to start with a Christmas update. Cambell's first Christmas was so special. It was an extended celebration to say the least. It began the first weekend in December with Christmas in Salado with the Homeyers. We mentioned this trip in a previous post, but failed to document Cambell's first meeting with Santa to surprise my mom with a picture as her present. We are not really going to play up the Santa thing in our family, but yearly pictures with Santa is a tradition that my sister and I have kept alive for my mom, even up to last year! Cambell was a champ. She kept looking up at Santa, eyeing his beard. It was entertaining.

Christmas with the Wilkes side of our family took place the weekend before Christmas. Cambell wore Mommy's dress from her first Christmas. Cambell stole the show as she tore through the presents. She LOVED ripping the paper but didn't quite understand why other people would sometimes open presents without her help.

Below is Cambell's new chair from Lolli and Pop. You can't see in the picture, but it has her name monogrammed in pink. We love it!
We spent Christmas with the Cook side of our family this year. After our Christmas Eve service at Harris Creek and the traditional Cook Christmas Eve Mexican food  feast, we went back home to have Cambell open one present and for Daddy to read her.

Christmas Day was wonderful. We went to the Cooks as soon as we got up for breakfast. We relaxed and spread out our present opening throughout the day.  Cambell once again got to show off her present opening skills.
This precious doll is a gift from her GranSara and Grandado. She loves grabbing it and of course putting it in her mouth.
It was sweet to add a baby into our Christmas festivities. Cambell makes everything more fun and really solidifies our little Cook family. I look forward to years to come when she will really understand what Christmas is.

For more pictures from our Christmas, visit our picture website and view the Christmas 2008 album.

I will update on our New Year celebration and Cambell's 8 month mark soon!
